Baleen Whale Sounds
The Baleen whales (Mystecetes) sing in the range of human hearing, but they also produce sound frequencies that are will below our ability to discriminate. It is generally agreed that they use these low frequency sounds to navigate and communicate over long distances.
Some of these sounds are reproduced at five to ten times speed, bringing them into the range of human pitch discrimination.
