Pinniped Sounds
The bizarre and psychedelic vocalizations of the seals have just recently been identified. These sounds can be very complex in the time domain, sounding like phase-modulated electric guitars (Whoa Jimi!). We assume that they use these sounds to hunt, or communicate with their kin, but nobody has yet come up with an explanation for their complexity.
